D'Mauri:
D’Mauri is a 5yr old little boy that lives in Providence with his mom and older brother D’Onne.
D’ Mauri was referred to Children’s Wishes this spring and we are happy to be able to grant him a wish. D’Mauri and his family met with two of our
wish-granters Karen & Thanh a few months ago. Karen and Thanh had a wonderful time visiting with D’Mauri and they both fell in love with his big smile.
D’Mauri is a true Disney fan and loves all the characters so much so that his mom has even gotten quite good at impersonating them all for him.
D’Mauri watches Mickey Mouse every day!! His mom has to sneak to change the channel from the Disney Channel when D’Mauri isn’t looking.
His room is covered with Disney characters, and he loves to dance!!

Pablo
Pablo is
18 yrs old and lives in Providence with his mom. He was born
with cerebral palsy and has a seizure
disorder. Pablo is severely handicapped and limited to what he can do physically. Our wish granters,
Ed and Brian, met with Pablo and quickly saw what an amazing
child he is. They were excited to work on his wish.
Pablo’s wish is a bedroom
makeover to make his room more comfortable. He's going to
have his walls painted and new décor added. His room is going to be furnished
with a TV and new recliner so he can move from his hospital
bed and sit in a chair
to watch TV. and visit with anyone that comes to see him.
Pablo’s has a large, close knit, extended family and they always make time to visit with Pablo.
He loves spending time with them.

Lauren
Lauren was referred to Children's Wishes by a social worker at Hasbro Children's Hospital.
She was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease and is a happy and fun-loving teenager despite the fact
that she is learning how to cope and live with this degenerative disease.
Our Wish Granters, Lori and Jason recently went to visit with
Lauren and her family at their home in Warwick. During their visit they came to learn what Lauren's one true wish would be.
A family vacation to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida!! Lauren loves all the Disney characters and has a passion for riding rollercoasters!!!
Lauren also shared that she enjoys reading and listening to music, and she is a member of her high school chorus.
Children's Wishes recently sent Lauren and her family to Disney World
and this is what her mom had to say about her wish: "Thank you guys so much. We had a wonderful time on our trip. Lauren had said it made her forget about her
medical stuff for a while. I can not thank you guys enough, it was just what we needed!"

Nick is a hapy, fun-loving 14 year old boy who lives in North Kingstown, RI and has decided that a shopping spree wish would be the perfect wish for him! Nick suffers from
a life threatening illness called hypogammaglobulinemia.
When he chose his wish, Nick was not looking to go on a
shopping spree for clothes. Insted he wanted items like a
TV, Stereo and Game Systems to make his room extra fun.

Omar is a little boy who lives in Providence and is 7 years old. Omar's wish
was to go to Disney World to see the famous Mickey Mouse! His
wish was granted in the summer of 2010 when he traveled to Orlando, FL with his family.
Some of Omar's favorite things to do are play basketball and basketball and
he always looks forward to gym time at school! Omar's favorite song is "Beat It" by Michael Jackson, who is his favorite singer. His favorite television
show is Spongebob Squarepants and his favorite actor is Patrick the starfish!

World and it came true in May. He left his house in a
limousine with a State Police escort.

Meet Brian, Our First Wish Granted!
We granted Brian's wish with
LOVE to go to the Demi Lovato concert at the Dunkin Donuts
Center on October 30, 2009 and we sent him in style with a new outfit, limo ride, dinner before the show,and a surprise meet and greet with Demi herself!

A little bit about Brian...
Brian is an eighteen year old boy who has been diagnosed with
Hallervorden-Spatz Disease and has already lived beyond the expectations of medical professionals. Hallervorden-Spatz
Disease is a rare genetic, degenerative disorder that involves progressive muscle rigidity, weakness, spasticity,
and dementia.
Brian is quickly losing muscle tone and uses a wheelchair and walker to get around. His chin
needs to be held in order for him to communicate and his food needs to be cut
into tiny pieces because of the lack of strength in his jaw.
Unfortunately, his brother is diagnosed with the same disease. He was in residential treatment for six years and
because he has just turned twenty-one years old, he has been discharge from the facility. The family is
currently looking for a new home that will be able to accommodate the needs of the brothers. Their
younger sister looks after them by making sure they receive their medication correctly and on time and their mother still
does not give up hope and strives to give them the best care possible. She makes sure to prepare her own meals for them
so she knows that they are eating the healthiest of foods and getting their nutrition.
Despite his condition and tough journey in life, Brian still has the motivation to excel in school and be a good student. His teachers rave about his
positive spirit and inspirational attitude. Brian's family proudly shows a picture of him from his prom to everyone
they meet. They want to show that he is just like any other teenager and finds such excitement and joy in being around others.
Our goal was to make Brian's wish an experience that he and his family would cherish forever. We wanted to convey to him that dreams can
come true and that he is a special person who so many people care about. Granting his wish gave him a memory that will last a lifetime!
